A Mom's-eye view from Madison, VA

This morning while washing yesterday's dishes I decided to convert my "old" blog, which I never felt motivated to blog on, to a sort-of Madison Mom's resource blogspot.

If this still seems like a good idea when I next sit down to mess around on the computer, then that's what I'm going to try to create. It will have information, news and links that I --as a Madison County mom -- think are cool, helpful, useful, etc.

Here's a sample of the kinds of things I'm talking about:

Did you know that you can download ebooks and audio books now from the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library (JMRL) system? This is the Charlottesville/Albemarle/Greene Library system, but Madison County residents can get a library card there just the same. We've had cards since we moved here 12 years ago!

The Northside Branch at Seminole Square is the most convenient location for us to use in person. But check out the website for info about the new ebooks/audio books lending program: www.jmrl.org/on-overdrive.htm

You can download to your computer, mp3, e-reader (kindle, nook or what-have-you), even burn to CD. It takes a few minutes to set up your account and then also to configure whatever device you're going to download to, but it's worth it!!! When the kids say, "There's nothing I want to read," and the library's closed, you can help them browse available titles and download away! Check it out! (pun intended!)
